10 inspirational Shopify stores to check out this Earth Day

Earth Day is here again and it’s back bigger and better than ever before. Taking place each year on 22 April, it now includes a wide range of global events including around 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.

So what better time to celebrate those awesome eCommerce retailers that have built their brand around environmental issues? We take a look at ten awesome Shopify stores committed to the planet.

Package Free

Lauren Singer, founder and CEO of Package Free, is on a mission to make the world a cleaner pace by selling beauty and household items that come package free. Inspired by her own zero waste lifestyle, her brand has inspired many others to think more carefully about their own wasteful consumer behavior.

United by Blue

Every product sold at United by Blue removes a pound of trash from the world’s oceans and waterways. This inspiring apparel and home goods brand was founded by Brian Linton, making a clear commitment to ending the use of single-use plastics. United by Blue even organizes cleanup events to bring together customers who are equally committed to their values.

BLK & Bold

BLK and Bold was founded by Pernell Cezar Jr. and Rod Johnson with the purpose of helping local communities through the sale of coffee. The brand leverages direct-to-consumer and wholesale, with 5% of profits helping young people to overcome unfortunate circumstances.

Meow Meow Tweet

This organic vegan skincare company makes its products from natural ingredients, using sustainable packaging featuring gorgeous hand drawn illustrations. Founded by Tara Pelletier and Jeff Kurosaki, Meow Meow Tweet offers a bulk refill program to reduce packaging and waste further.

Rothy’s

Another awesome brand committed to zero waste is Rothy’s. Over 78 million plastic water bottles (and counting) have been transformed into bags or shoes by Rothy’s and the products are even biodegradable.

Tentree

Dave Luba and Kalen Emsley founded Tentree as a way to positively impact the environment through business and commerce. For each and every item sold on their site, Tentree plants 10 trees.

Tsuno

Tsuno was created by Roz Campbell. The brand makes period products from eco-responsible materials. Tsuno’s sustainable bamboo fiber sanitary pads and organic cotton tampons provide support for disempowered women with around half of its total products donated to charities.

Taylor Stitch

Taylor Stitch does more than just making high-quality clothing. It also aims to reduce waste and help the environment by creating clothing with recycled or 100% natural products. On their store, you can’t miss the environmental emphasis and the overall creative theme is impressive too.

Unwrapped Life

Arden Teasdale and Hayley McKenzie started Unwrapped Life to provide effective beauty products that are sustainable. Shampoos, conditioners and soap bars are wrapped in compostable paper so these items are virtually wasteless.

GiveMeTap

Each and every water bottle sold by GiveMeTap provides a person in Ghana with clean drinking water for five years. This incredible app was founded by Edwin Broni-Mensah who had trouble finding a water refill station in his home city of London. The app showcases local eateries that offer free water refills thus slashing the use of disposable water bottles. Give Me Tap has provided over 50,000 individuals with clean water for life and reduced about 45 million plastic bottles as of late 2019.
